About Wandering Hen Homestead and Apiary
Our Story
Years ago, we had a little red hen that would run straight to the beehives every time she was let out to free range. She affectionately became known as our little wandering hen. And just like that, Wandering Hen Homestead and Apiary was born!

Years ago, we had a little red hen that would run straight to the beehives every time she was let out to free range. She affectionately became known as our little wandering hen. And just like that, Wandering Hen Homestead and Apiary was born!
My husband and I live on three acres in Graytown, Ohio with our boxer pup, Gordy and our black cat, Luna. We keep honeybees, raise chickens, and foster a love of gardening. I inherited my love of vegetable gardening from my grandma and my love of flowers from my mama. I like to incorporate our plants, honey, and beeswax into our soaps whenever possible.

I love to forage for plants in the wild as well as in our own gardens. Many of our soaps and lotion bars are made with botanical hydrosols, teas, and infusions that we make right here at Wandering Hen Homestead. Our soaps are palm-free, phthalate-free, and cruelty-free. Hand-crafted, hand-poured, and hand-cut.

I started my pottery journey when I decided I wanted to offer handcrafted, unique, and sustainable soap dishes to go with my natural soaps. Anything plastic was a no-go. It is also important to me that everything I sell be handmade by me. And so it began! I bought a kiln and a pottery wheel from FB marketplace and cleaned out a corner in
I started my pottery journey when I decided I wanted to offer handcrafted, unique, and sustainable soap dishes to go with my natural soaps. Anything plastic was a no-go. It is also important to me that everything I sell be handmade by me. And so it began! I bought a kiln and a pottery wheel from FB marketplace and cleaned out a corner in my basement. My husband gifted me ceramics classes at Owens Community College for Christmas in 2024. My dad had just passed away and I was looking for a distraction. This is where I discovered my love of hand building. Much of my pottery is nature-inspired. Lots of honeybees, birds, flowers, butterflies, frogs, bugs, etc.
On a side note … I grew up in the 70’s when home ceramics were pretty popular. My mom did slip casting and she had her own kiln in the basement. She would make things to sell to earn a little extra income. I still have some of the little animals she made me. They sit right on a shelf in my own basement pottery studio.
